LTHW fan convectors for commercial and public buildings
Belgravia Classic Fan Convectors are LTHW heaters that blow warm air from a hot water coil into the room, using quiet EC fans with three speeds. The range comes in four sizes and 14 casing styles, for floor, wall, ceiling or recessed mounting, with outputs up to 16.3 kW.
Manufactured in Leicester by S & P Coil Products Limited, Belgravia Classic Fan Convectors have heated schools for decades and are also specified for offices, libraries, churches, fire stations and other commercial and public buildings. Enhanced and lowflow coil options give useful outputs from low water temperatures, so the same units suit heat pump systems as well as traditional boilers.

What are Belgravia Classic Fan Convectors?
Belgravia Classic Fan Convectors are fan-assisted heaters for LTHW (low temperature hot water) systems. A fan draws room air in through the inlet grille, across a coil heat exchanger made by SPC fed with hot water, and blows warm air back into the room through the outlet grille. Fan speed and the hot water flow can both be controlled, so the Belgravia Classic responds quickly when a room needs heat.
The Belgravia Classic has a traditional rectangular casing with clean lines. It comes in white (RAL 9010) casing and grilles, or white with black grilles, and can be painted in a special finish to order. For a casing with rounded corners, see Belgravia Supreme Fan Convectors, and for the whole range, see Belgravia Fan Convectors.

How much heat does a Belgravia Classic Fan Convector give?
At 80/70°C water and 18°C air, Belgravia Classic outputs at high fan speed range from 5.7 kW (BEL40) to 16.3 kW (BEL150).
- Three fan speeds (high, medium and low), set by thermostat, switch or BMS
- EC fans with a specific fan power as low as 0.12 W/l/s at low speed
- Noise from NR32 at low speed, with the room conditions stated in the brochure
Can fan convectors work with heat pumps?
Yes. Belgravia Classic Fan Convectors can be fitted with an enhanced or lowflow coil for water temperatures below 60°C.
- Enhanced coil: more surface area for low water temperatures at standard flow rates
- Lowflow coil: for low flow rates and wide temperature differences, with ½” connections
- A BEL150 with the enhanced coil gives 6.8 kW at 45/35°C, high speed, 18°C air
Can a Belgravia Classic have a low surface temperature?
Yes. With the Active LST option, available on the A and BS styles, Belgravia Classic Fan Convectors keep the hottest part of the casing at or below 43°C.
- A sensor monitors the outlet grille, the hottest point on the casing
- An independent valve modulates the water flow to hold the set temperature
- Factory fitted, with no extra pipework or wiring: see Active LST Fan Convectors
Full performance data for every size, speed and water temperature is in the Fan Convector Brochure.
Belgravia Classic casing styles, controls and options
Belgravia Classic Fan Convectors come in nine vertical styles (A, B, BS, J, HS, K, X, Y and Z) and five horizontal styles (QS, S, U, V and VS). Most styles are also available with reversed air flow, and the B, BS, V and VS styles with an inverted casing.

Vertical
Low-level floor or wall mounting.

Horizontal
Ceiling mounted, exposed or concealed in a ceiling void.

Inverted
High-level wall mounting.

Recessed
Set into an alcove, flush with the wall.
Belgravia Classic Fan Convectors can be controlled locally, from a room thermostat or from a building management system.
- Built-in on/off or change speed thermostats (T1, T2)
- Remote and tamper-proof thermostats (RT1, RT2, TRT1, TRT2)
- SPC Modulo proportional touch controller and the SPC Vision digital controller
- Rocker switches for on/off, summer/winter and fan speed
- BMS relay for remote enable/disable (BMS1) and on/off plus fan speed via 0-10V (BMS2)
- Low water temperature fan cut-outs (LTC, ALTC) for boiler systems; these are not suitable for weather-compensated heat pump systems
Belgravia Classic Fan Convectors can be built with the accessories a project needs. Check the brochure’s accessories table for the options available on each style.
- Extended casing to house on/off valves inside the unit (BEL40, BEL60, BEL90)
- Isolating valves and 2-port on/off valves for waterside control
- Air filters, plinths and loose grille assemblies
- Lockable or tamper-proof access panels
- Fuse spur box and customer connection box
- Special paint finishes in RAL colours
- Electric heating element version for BEL40, BEL60 and BEL90 (A style, 400V three phase)

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, in practice. LTHW (low temperature hot water) and LPHW (low pressure hot water) are both used in the UK to describe the hot water heating circuits that fan convectors run on. Belgravia Classic Fan Convectors work on these systems, from traditional boiler flow temperatures of around 80°C down to heat pump temperatures when fitted with an enhanced or lowflow coil.
Below 60°C flow, choose the enhanced coil, which has more surface area to keep useful outputs at standard flow rates. If the system also runs at low flow rates with a wide temperature difference between flow and return, choose the lowflow coil, which uses ½” connections. Our team can select the coil for your water temperatures.
Both use the same coil options and are built in Leicester by SPC. The Belgravia Classic has a traditional rectangular casing and the widest choice of styles, including recessed and 2000 mm tall units. The Belgravia Supreme has a casing with no sharp corners. Choose the casing that suits the room and how it is used.
Yes. Recessed styles sit in an alcove with the front of the unit flush with the wall, and horizontal styles can be concealed in a ceiling void with a loose grille assembly. Spigot connections are available for short duct runs to the heated space.
Yes. Belgravia Classic Fan Convectors have been installed in churches, a town hall and a museum, where they heat large, intermittently used spaces and can be painted to suit the interior. Read our guide: Are Fan Convectors a Good Choice for Church Heating?
Yes. The standard finish is white casing and grilles (RAL 9010) or white with black grilles. Special paint finishes are available to order: send us the RAL colour with your enquiry.
Two BMS options are available. BMS1 is a relay for a remote enable/disable signal, and BMS2 gives on/off and fan speed control from a 0-10V signal. Units can also be controlled by local thermostats, switches or the SPC Modulo and SPC Vision controllers.
Yes. Electric heating element versions of the BEL40, BEL60 and BEL90 give 3.75 kW, 6.0 kW and 9.0 kW from a 400 V three phase supply. Electric units are available in the A style only, with on/off control by switch, remote thermostat or BMS.
Yes. Belgravia Classic Fan Convector BIM objects are available from SPC on bimstore. Dimensions for every style are also in the Belgravia Classic IOM in the downloads below.
