Fan Convectors for Churches | Welshpool Methodist Church

Welshpool Methodist Church needed replacement heating for its worship space and adjoining areas, and SPC supplied seven Belgravia Classic Fan Convectors to do the job. Installed by Splash Plumbing and Heating Engineers Ltd, the package comprises six BEL90 units and one BEL60 unit. It shows how fan convectors for churches can deliver fast, controllable warmth in a building that is in use throughout the week, with energy efficient ECM motors and built-in thermostats on every unit.

Background

Welshpool Methodist Church on High Street hosts far more than Sunday worship. Its programme includes weekly coffee mornings, a craft group, prayer sessions and community lunches, along with seasonal events such as its Christmas Fair. That pattern of use makes responsive heating essential, as the building needs to warm up quickly for each activity rather than being held at temperature all week.

SPC's Solution

SPC Area Sales Manager, Paul Shankland, supported the project, with the selection developed from the church’s requirement for new heating and the site assessment carried out by the installer. Belgravia Fan Convectors were chosen because they heat a room rapidly and offer simple local control. That combination suits fan convectors for churches that alternate between quiet periods and busy events.

Every unit is a floor-mounted A style case, mounted on a 100mm plinth. Each has its own built-in on/off and speed thermostats, so the heating can be tailored to the activity taking place, and a summer/winter switch on the motor plate allows seasonal adjustment. ECM motors keep electrical consumption low, and tamperproof fasteners on the access panels suit a building open to the public.

Outcome
