Standing proudly since 1840, Fleetwood Market is a historic landmark on the Fylde Coast. Recently, Wyre Council committed to achieving net zero emissions, embarked on a major refurbishment project to breathe new life into the Market while prioritising sustainability.
This ambitious project aimed to significantly improve the Market’s energy efficiency and reduce its environmental impact. A key element involved replacing the end-of-life fossil fuel boiler with a low-emission air source heat pump, complemented by energy efficiency measures and the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels. This innovative approach not only reduces reliance on fossil fuels but also generates renewable energy on-site, a significant step towards the Council’s net zero goals, through Salix funding.
