Wantage Leisure Centre, Oxfordshire

Vale of White Horse District Council is investing in renewable energy, fabric improvements and upgraded HVAC systems across its estate to cut carbon emissions and reduce long-term running costs.

Wantage Leisure Centre is a key site within this programme, benefitting from insulation upgrades, improved glazing, solar PV installation and the replacement of end-of-life heating equipment.

SPC supplied a zone-specific heating solution tailored to the requirements of the sports hall, squash courts and reception area. All equipment was designed around low-temperature hot water operation (48/40°C), supporting the leisure centre’s transition towards a more efficient, lower-carbon heating system.

Sports Hall — CiRRUS Ci7 Unit Heaters (x6)

• Heat exchanger: Enhanced depth coil for low-temperature systems
• Controls: Modulo v3 thermostat controller
• Motor: High-performance ECM
• Additional features:
  • AF3 air filter
  • ALTC low-water temperature cut-out
  • CCB connection box
  • Tamperproof access fasteners
• Finish: Textured RAL 9010

Reception Area — Belgravia Tilevector Solo Plus (x3)

• Mounting: Horizontal ceiling-mounted, with hinged-core grille
• Controls: Modulo v3 thermostat controller
• Motor: ECM low-carbon motor

  • EC white eggcrate grille
• Design basis: Air on 18 °C, Water 48/40 °C, 230 V single phase

The installation by James A Turner Ltd provided the leisure centre with an efficient, modern heating system aligned with the council’s long-term decarbonisation strategy. Heating performance has been improved across the sports hall, squash courts and reception zone, while supporting reduced carbon emissions through low-temperature operation and energy-efficient ECM technology.
