Last week, we bid farewell to Adrian Blyth, our long-serving Financial Director, who has retired after an incredible 23 years with SPC.
Adrian first joined the business in October 2002 as a Management Accountant. Over the years, he became an integral part of the finance team and a respected leader within the company. Known for his financial insight, sense of humour, and sincere care for his colleagues, Adrian brought both professionalism and personality to everything he did.
When asked what he enjoyed most about his time here, Adrian often said it was the people, echoed by many of his colleagues who’ve worked closely with him over the years.
Outside of work, Adrian is just as accomplished. He once ran the London Marathon in an impressive 2 hours and 54 minutes and was a proud member of the Leicester Road Hogs running club in the 1990s. In more recent years, he’s taken on a new role: passionate supporter (and investor!) in his grandson’s golfing ambitions.
At his farewell presentation, our Sales Director, Jeremy, shared a few fun retirement sayings that brought plenty of laughs:
- “You’re retired, not expired”
- “Say hi to the pension, bye to the tension”
- “Behind every retired man is a wife who wishes he’d go back to work!”
Adrian, on behalf of everyone at SPC – thank you for your dedication, commitment, and everything you’ve done for the company. We wish you a very happy and well-deserved retirement. You’ve certainly earned your licence to chill!
