Last week, the team at S & P Coil Products Limited in Leicester took a moment to mark a genuinely remarkable milestone: the 250th anniversary of the Carver Group. Founded in 1776 as a family business, the Carver Group has grown over eight generations into one of Europe’s leading HVAC manufacturing groups. On 16th June 2026, every company across the portfolio paused to celebrate together.
A Lunchtime Celebration at SPC
To mark the occasion, SPC invited all staff to step away from their desks and the factory floor for a celebration in the rear car park. The afternoon brought the whole team together for food, music, and a chance to relax and socialise.
The CodFellas, a popular mobile fish and chip van, provided the catering, with a menu that went down well on a warm summer afternoon.
One Group, Many Celebrations
SPC was not alone in marking the anniversary. Across the Carver Group’s portfolio of businesses, each company held its own celebration at their respective sites. The full group includes Applied Comfort, Biddle, Carver Clamps, Cooltherm, Powrmatic, Thermoscreens, and Widney Leisure, a collection of specialist HVAC manufacturers spanning the UK, Europe, and North America.
Rather than a single centralised event, each business was encouraged to celebrate in a way that suited their team and culture. The result was a series of local celebrations united by a shared sense of pride in the group’s history.
250 Years of Family Ownership
The Carver Group was founded in 1776 by Joseph Carver in Walsall, originally producing goods for the carriage industry. Over the following two-and-a-half centuries, the business evolved through engineering and manufacturing before moving into the HVAC sector it operates in today. It is now an eighth-generation family business with operations across the UK, Germany, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Canada, serving customers in more than 50 countries worldwide.
SPC joined the Carver Group in 2024, bringing over 50 years of heating and cooling manufacturing expertise to the portfolio. Based in Leicester, SPC continues to design and manufacture a full range of HVAC products including fan convectors, trench heating, coils, radiant panels, and air curtains, for commercial and industrial applications across the UK.
